New bike frame technology

without comments

new mountain bike frame

A new bike frame technology, it is supposed to be ultralight and ultrastrong.

If a simple polygon can hold up a pharaoh’s tomb for 4,500 years, it should survive some off-road riding. That’s the thinking behind the 2.75-pound Arantix mountain-bike frame from Delta 7 Sports. It’s 10 times as strong as a steel frame of the same weight would be—enough to survive the company’s informal “run- over” test with a Ford F350 pickup.

The Arantix draws its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio from rods composed of several hundred layers of carbon fiber, wrapped tightly with Kevlar cord and woven to form a long series of little pyramids. The rods intersect to create hundreds of stress-bearing joints that add strength and isolate damage, so a crack in one part of the frame won’t spread to another and wreck your ride.

Because each frame requires up to 300 hours of hand-weaving, Delta 7 will make only 200 this year, selling for $7,000 each starting in the spring. Spread over a few millennia, that’s a bargain.

Electric Bubble Wrap.

without comments

I don’t know why but popping bubble wrap is fun but it is! When there is a sheet of bubble wrap sitting on the floor there is something about it that just draws you to it, you just have to pop… at least one. Well now you can electrically pop the bubble wrap where ever you are!!!

Fresh breakfast in bed

without comments

My favorite show of all times is The Office. One of my favorite episodes is the one where Michael Scott burns his foot on the George Foreman Grill. Here is what he says.

I enjoy having breakfast in bed. I like waking up to the smell of bacon, sue me. And since I don’t have a butler, I have to do it myself. So, most nights before I go to bed, I will lay six strips of bacon out on my George Foreman grill. Then I go to sleep. When I wake up, I plug in the grill. I go back to sleep again. Then I wake up to the smell of crackling bacon. It is delicious, it’s good for me, it’s the perfect way to start the day.

Another great smell would be fresh donuts! William Sonoma sells the solution for that.  The mini donut maker!!

Groups of animals

without comments

A while back the trivia question at Caribou Coffee was “What is a group of crows called?” I was able to receive 10 cents off of my medium moosed white chocolate mocha because I knew that the correct answer is a murder. I knew this from watching the movie A Murder of Crows. So, remember kids to watch tv as much as your can and maybe someday you can get 10 cents off of your specialty coffee drink.

Here are a few more unusual names for groups of animals.

1. A shrewdness of apes 12. An exaltation of larks
2. A battery of barracudas 13. A troop of monkeys
3. A kaleidoscope of butterflies 14. A parliament of owls
4. A quiver of cobras 15. An ostentation of peacocks
5. A murder of crows 16. A rookery of penguins
6. A convocation of eagles 17. A prickle of porcupines
7. A charm of finches 18. An unkindness of ravens
8. A skulk of foxes 19. A shiver of sharks
9. A troubling of goldfish 20. A pod of whales
10. A smack of jellyfish 21. A descent of woodpeckers
11. A mob of kangaroos 22. A zeal of zebras
