American Idol final 8 singing “Shout to the Lord”
Authors@Google: Tim Keller
This is video of one of the most recent speakers at Googles Corporate office. It is over an hour long but it sparks some interesting thoughts and is worth listening to. I find it especially interesting how he answers the questions at the end.
Psalm 72:25-26
This morning I ran across this video. It is a great reminder that in a time of trials, when things are not going the way that you planned them that God needs to be “… the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
New kind of Sermon
Mark Driscoll the pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle is taking a new approach to a sermon series. He is letting anyone ask any question they want, letting everyone else vote on which questions they want answered and then he will answer them in his sermon series in January 2008. You can give your input at askanything.marshillchurch.org . I think this is a great idea. Paul of the New Testament spends a lot of time answering questions of the people of his church and its great to see a pastor using the modern tools to do the same thing. Check it out.
10 Commandments
This morning at church it was mentioned that the majority of people that claim to be Christians can not quote 10 commandments from memory. Well growing up I learned a song to remember them, in order.
number 1 we’ve just begun, God should be first in your life
number 2’s the idol rule, those graven images aren’t nice
number 3 Gods name should be never spoken in jest
number 4 the Sabbaths for our worship and for rest
number 5 we all should strive to honor father and mother
number 6 don’t get your kick from killing one another
number 7 life is heaven when you’re true to your mate
number 8 don’t steal and break this rule for goodness sake
number 9 don’t be the kind who goes around telling lies
number 10 don’t covet when you see your neighbors house or wife.
Desiring God Conference.
This weekend I went to the Desiring God National Conference. The speakers included John MacArthur, Jerry Bridges, Randy Alcorn, Helen Roseveare and John Piper. John Piper said this conference is to “call the church to endurance in the face of anything and everything that would deplete our zeal for the glory of Christ.”
Please take the time to listen to the message, they are all worth your time. Desiring God has made both the audio and video available for download on their site. Please listen and let me know what you think.
